I have a very young nephew and I wanted to create a unique gift for him. I decided that an RFID talking bear would be a cool gift. I ended up using an Arduino UNO clone, an AdaFruit mp3 shield, and RFID reader and some other parts.
I created some cards with pictures of family and some animals using hotel-style RFID cards. I wanted the bear to speak in Spanish and English. I wanted to be able to use the same picture card to speak in either language. I also made a book that had an RFID card attached to it and recorded it in both languages.
The project was a ton of fun – honestly I probably had more fun that my nephew will ever have with it.
